ESD/SDGs study and peace study for each subject for the year leading up to the SEISA Africa Asia Bridge 2024 (International Exchange Festival) and its holding.
Africa and Asia have been highlighted as one of the most transformative regions in the world. Africa has a history of human origins and a diversity of ethnic groups and cultures living together. And now, it is a region with many possibilities with its resources and economic development. We also believe that the diversity of the people in this region holds great hints for the “symbiotic society” that SEISA envisions.
Currently, the world is experiencing conflicts, divisions, advances in AI, and other things that are beyond what we can think of. It is precisely because we live in such an era that we believe it is important to accept all races, religions, skin colors, languages, customs, etc., and to connect with each other by learning about various differences.
Our school has many ties with countries in Asia and Africa, such as Eritrea and Bhutan through the World Children’s Foundation. With the aim of realizing a “symbiotic society for the whole world,” we will create opportunities for not only children but also many people to seriously think about the future of society.
Annual Work Plan
(1) To take up different cultures, histories, nature, resources, etc. as subjects for sympathetic understanding education in which children take the leading role, discover, investigate, and experience for themselves, and to provide opportunities to come into contact with the people of the land and to think about how we will live together and how we will live on the earth in the future.
(2) Through this effort, to experience that “differences with others are not to distinguish each other but to understand and recognize each other (Seisa’s 3 Promises: ‘Recognize others’, ‘Do not exclude others’ and ‘Make friends’).
(iii) Aim to reverse our stereotyped knowledge and image of African and Asian countries compared to Europe and the U.S. with this experience.
4) We believe that this kind of initiative will be a breakthrough that will spread to many schools and will surely become a useful experience for children in the future society in which they will live together, and we will continue to work on it.
5) We will continue to hold this event and create a large scale voluntary association (voluntary connection) all over the world.
(6) We will think about the connection to the future, and continue to develop our activities to countries all over the world, and conduct specific activities with students in cooperation with international organizations.
(7) Through the SDGs initiatives, we will conduct independent study and research to contribute to all sustainable development goals. In addition to the 17 goals, we will look at the 169 targets and create opportunities for young people to think about and learn how they can take action to solve familiar and global problems, and plant seeds to nurture the spirit of action in young people.
