The school’s founding philosophy is “Acta Non Verba”. Guided by this principle, we have defined our core educational concept as “ICT&ESD&PBL”, integrating the three priority areas of UNESCO Associated Schools. Currently, under the theme of “Research and Creation”, we are working to establish a comprehensive framework through our ESD Course Programme. This curriculum aims to nurture the following ten key ESD Competencies:

<ESD Competencies>
1. Knowledge, understanding, and skills related to sustainability and SDGs
2. Practice of sustainable lifestyles
3. Information collection, selection, and application skills
4. Logical thinking skills
5. Critical thinking skills
6. Creativity (application and planning skills)
7. Communication skills (verbalisation and presentation skills)
8. Action-oriented capabilities (initiative, problem identification, responsibility, leadership)
9. Collaborative skills (listening, flexibility, consensus building, and cooperation)
10. Respect for diversity and coexistence
Self-assessments related to the above competencies were conducted twice during the year. Notably, competencies 6 and 7 showed significant improvement, as reflected in the themes of research projects.

<ESD Course Programme Accreditation System>
The “Period for Inquiry-Based Cross-Disciplinary Study” is designated as “ESD Research”, where students engage in individual investigations and research. The ESD Course Programme certifies students as “ESD Course Programme Participants” upon their active and sustained participation in the school’s programmes, submission of research reports, delivery of research presentations, and successful completion of oral examinations. In the academic year 2024, 14 students received certification for their research (including joint projects):
“Aichi’s Accessible – Web Design and Analysis Based on Accessibility Studies”
“World Fermentation Culture and Bento: Developing Regional Specialities through Fermentation and Gibier (Game Meat)”
“Image Palette of Regional Scentscape”
“The JR Takayama Line”
